Receiving money in Kenya
A sender abroad usually needs:
- Your account number
- Your bank's SWIFT/BIC code
- Your full name as on the account
- Branch name or code if your bank asks for it
Take these details from your bank's app or statement, not from a directory.
Domestic bank identifiers
| Identifier | Format | Used for |
|---|---|---|
| Bank and branch codes | Varies | Used for domestic transfers such as EFT and RTGS. |
| IBAN | Not used | Payments into Kenya use the account number and SWIFT/BIC instead. |
SWIFT/BIC codes we've verified
Each code was read on the bank's own website or an official central-bank list. Always confirm with your own bank before sending money.

Good to know
- Mobile money (such as M-Pesa) uses different details from bank transfers. Check which one the sender is using.
Check a code
Checked in your browser. Nothing you type is sent to Uncle Jetlag or stored.
Uncle Jetlag Global Banking is a free reference tool, not a bank or payment service. It can't confirm that an account exists, who owns it, or that a payment will arrive. Always confirm payment details with your bank or the recipient before sending money. Never share online banking passwords, PINs or one-time codes with anyone.
